Coal, zinc, gold, and quartz, are an example of the ores that can be found through this process. 
 
Process-
Horizontal tunnels, that can be tilted or straight, are dug through hills or mountains. These tunnels are called drifts, hence the origin of the name. Drifts are made to be slightly inclined in order to remove the ores out of the mountain or hill. In lower layers, the previous drifts can be reused. The uses can range from ventilation to haulage.
